Is Haworth a beautiful and historical village?
The setting is dramatic rather than beautiful, and the older part of the village is typical of the area in that everything-walls, roofs, flagstones, setts, is built of the native stone, millstone grit. However, the ociation with the Brontes has brought a tide of commercialism and you would need quite a lot of imagination to visualise how the village would have looked in the 19th century. The basic structure is there, but there are modern (but fairly sympathetic) additions on the edge and the modern ambience is rather tacky. I would look at similar places in the area that have escaped being commercialised for a closer approach to 19th century feeling. Stanbury would be a good example.
