Is There Such A Thing As Security Bots For Forum's and Websites?

For what I have seen, Most bots are things designed to hack and ruin websites. But I have also seen some bots used for security reason's. Is there a way to get security bots for a forum/website? Or am I wrong on my statement? Any information that you think needs to be provided to me can be said as well.
