Wood Pickguard on epiphone Explorer tacky?

The finish of the pickguard is so dark that it will appear black, so I don't think it will look tacky at all. When I saw the word 'wood' in your question, I sort of cringed because I was imagining a lighter wood finish through which you could see the grain. But the one in your link seems appropriate and will complement the gold hardware and black bridge nicely.
