Why the modern society is so very fearful that all Governments have enacted laws against suicide?

Why suicide is not allowed as the birth right of every human being. If an individual does not want to live why the society forces him to live. Are the rich and more privileged people fear that the act of suicide is so very contagious that it may caught with their children as well. Is this the reason why laws have been enacted against suicide.
